Pittsburgh Drink Tax...

It is my understanding that the Drink_Tax was created to help bail out the Port Authority once again from its debts. The tax was so high that there will be a surplus of money so instead of taking the tax away, they are going to use it to keep property taxes down.

Ok, now there was never any mention of property tax to begin with so WTF - you are just being greedy with peoples money. We shouldn't have had to bail out the Port Authority. Instead they should be wiped out and start from scratch. Look at the other major cities, Chicago, New York, they have amazing transit systems. Ours is horrible. I would love to ride the bus to work but I can't. It is not even that there is no direct route to work from my home, but I would have to take multiple buses and go out of my way. No wonder no one wants to ride the damn bus, they are not making it convenient for anyone.

Weekend Fun

My sister and I had been running a lot of errands this weekend but in between all that we wanted to catch the latest exhibit at the Carnegie Science Center, The Titanic. We went down to the science center to us yesterday only to find out that the exhibit was closed because of Kenny freaking Chesney.... I was a little pissed off about this... I mean you go all the way down there to find out that the exhibit is closed because of some country music concert.

We went back today and it was well worth it. I was a little on the fence about it all though. Like shouldn't the artifacts stay underwater undisturbed and let the dead have a peaceful grave. But after seeing it and learning more about the Titanic and the sinking - It was very educational and sad at the same time.

When you purchase your ticket to see the exhibit you are given a post card that is a replica of one of the tickets you would have gotten when buying a ticket for the Titanic. On the back is the name of one of the passengers and a little bio on that person. At the end of the exhibit they have a list of all the people that survived and those that didn't make it - you can see if your person made it or not - mine did.

I would have to say it was well worth it. I have always been fascinated by the story of the Titanic. To think that a majority of the deaths were caused by hypothermia and not injuries incurred by the sinking of the ship was even sadder.

Friday the 13th...

Happy Friday_the_13th... a day that is supposed to be followed with bad luck and unfortunate happenings and a slew of bad horror movies... I have had some of the worst Friday the 13ths over the years... chalk it up to my clumsiness I suppose. I remember this one time while in high school I actually accidentally hit my head off of my locker. Thankfully there was no blood but I am thoroughly convinced that it was due to the fact it was a Friday the 13th.

Moving on...

The other day I was watching the news and they were talking about how Katherine_Heigl is dissing Grey's and how she didn't get an Emmy winning performance so she isn't even going to throw her hat in the ring of contenders. There is something about this girl that I just don't like. Ever since I first started watching Grey's - and her subsequent interviews, she just errks me. Not to mention the fact that she has bad mouthed practically everything she has been in... Remember her interviews about Knocked Up...

Here is my thoughts, you are getting paid thousands of dollars for a few weeks of work. Suck it up and do your job. There are people out there busting their asses for a lot harder's day work making not even a fourth of what you just took home and you have the nerve to sit there and bitch about it.

Seriously get a clue...

Now that I got that little rant out of the way... ha ha...

The Arts_festival is still going strong this weekend... hopefully I will be able to check it out a little ... also am going to go see the Titanic exhibition this weekend. Should be overall a good weekend...

Well gotta get going... stay safe!!

It's about time....

The smoking ban in PA has finally been passed... All I can say is it is about damn time. I love watching the news footage for this story, all the smokers pissed off because they can no longer smoke here or there. Me, I am just the opposite. I am glad that this ban has finally been passed even if it has contingencies to the rules.

As I have stated many times before, I am not a smoker, I hate going out and end up coming home smelling like stale smoke. It's not fair to me or my lungs to have to deal with that. Granted, smokers are losing their rights too... but there 'right' is to smoke, not cause others harm from their activity's.

It is stated that second hand smoke is even worse than smoking the cigarette. Amazing. Essentially all these people whining and moaning about not being able to smoke are just bummed because they can no longer bring a slow death to all those around them.

If restaurants actually had a good ventilation system installed then you can't tell that someone near you is smoking. But 9 times out of 10 the restaurant has a very poor system and you end up with a side of smoke with your meal, which really just sucks.

Speaking of smoking and eating... how do smokers do it? How can they eat and smoke at the same time... I have seen this many a times and I just can't wrap my brain around it. Doesn't the smoke distort the taste of the food? Are they just that addicted that they need that lit cigarette in their fingers at all times?

Who said you can't get anything free

Hello everyone,

I am back... it's been a while since I have seriously blogged... I have posted some things here and there but no real stories...

Life has been busy lately and I will fill everyone in on that soon... promise... Oh but I will mention now that I am no longer a blonde... I have gone back to brunette.

Other things that have been going on... on a more 'entertaining' note... I have gone to see a few movies lately. A few weeks ago I went to see Speed Racer... It wasn't bad but I was disappointed that it wasn't that much like the cartoon. There were a few cartoons that I watched as a child, the ones that I never missed... One being Speed Racer (the others, Transformers, Thundercats, GI Joe and Mask (the cartoon - not that Cher movie )). The other movie I went to see, like millions of other ladies, Sex_in the City.

The movie itself wasn't bad, I was hoping for a little more from it maybe. I wanted Samantha to be a little more feisty or spunky or something I think. I was running a little late to the movie, I missed the previews (YEAH!!!) but the ladies I was meeting at the theater bought my ticket for me so I was ok with the running late part. It was $5.00 night and the theater was packed... no visible seats available except for the one I was about to sit my bum in. There was this family that went to see the movie, who brought a very small child with them. Now without giving away the movie, you will see penis' and nipples in this movie oh and it is rated R... HELLO people what makes you think this is ok to bring a small child to?

Not only was the small child fidgety, the family wouldn't shut up and the one didn't turn off her damn cell phone... Manners people!!

Now, getting to the free part. I met with someone I have been conversing with via email for a while now about some articles that I have written. Anyway, we met at a local restaurant and as I waited for her to arrive I ordered an Iced Tea... When we were getting ready to I asked the waitress for my bill so I could pay for my tea... she said not to worry about it that she didn't even ring it in... Just when I thought everything in the world was going up in price, I got a free tea :)

Well, I am going to close there... I have got to figure out what to wear to work tomorrow - 90 degrees and rain -
