So this is sort of a continuation to yesterdays post where I was talking about the flowers that were planted and purchased... Below you will see Nat's little herb garden, going left to right, pineapple mint, garlic chives, sugar, basil. Now this one is my favorite... I love, no wait, LOVE gerber daisies... and this one was definitely calling me to purchase it the other night... I know there is some glare from the sun but it is a really bright pink color that is really pretty....And then there is this one... which I didn't purchase, nor do I know exactly what it is - but I think it is pretty cool and that's why I added it to the post...

Now I am just enjoying the warm and sunny day sitting on the back porch... typing this post.

A pretty scary thing that happened today -- there was a bomb_scare in Downtown Pittsburgh... some streets were closed and the bomb squad deemed there not to be a threat.

And lastly, the Three_Rivers_Arts Festival starts this weekend... which usually brings some really crappy weather to Pittsburgh (It is predicted that we will get rain Saturday)... I still really would like to get down there and check it out during the (i think) 15 day stint.
But now, I think I am going to get an iced cold glass of tea and enjoy the soon to be setting sunshine...

Weekend Re-Cap

It has been a pretty busy weekend... It all started around 1pm on Friday, when we were all allowed to leave work early to kick off the holiday weekend... how cool is that?!

Friday I prepped some steps for painting, which I wasn't able to paint because the weathermen kept threatening rain... and I planted some vegetables. I love homegrown vegetables! After all that I went out to eat with my family... and went to a garden shop with my sister after dinner. We got all kinds of interesting things there, a beautiful gerber daisy (which I will take a picture of later) and Nat wanted some herbs. She got garlic chives, basil, a sugar plant, and pineapple mint... I can't wait to try the garlic chives.

Saturday morning I did some work for my CMU job and then went to see the new Pirates movie. Which was a tad long... but I did like it. And if the gang decides to do a 4th movie - the ending will wrap nicely into the next installment.

Sunday... I went to a birthday party/bbq that was a lot of fun... and there was only (almost) one casualty in the evening... when the glider/swing almost caught fire... which was pretty um scary and a bit funny all at the same time.

Then there is today... Monday, man did this weekend go too fast. Watched the movie Because_I_Said_So which was alright... a bit funny... a bit of that same old story just with a slightly different twist.

I also got some new tunes... the_bravery's latest (which I love), Say_Anything (which I haven't listened to the entire CD of yet -- but I like what I have heard thus far) and Live greatest hits (which is good also).

Now I am sitting here watching XWC, because I was a little curious as to what this show was going to be... um yeah I think I am going to go see if the new solar lights I got are working instead... So have a good night everyone!

Happy Memorial Day

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day.

Let's remember all those who have died to protect us...

Here is a pretty good site for Memorial Day information on well all sorts of stuff really... POW/MIA's, sending e-cards, biography's, and more...

WTF?!

This my friends is going to be a bit of a vent... I'll apologize now - but sometimes I just need to vent...

I can't figure out this gas price bullshit at all... Everyday it seems like the prices just keep going up and up - and for what reason exactly are these prices going up? Does anyone know?? I know that the gas companies seem to be making profits every quarter while we the drivers empty our pockets into our gas tanks to fill up. It's ridiculous... and something needs to be done to change it before it gets worse. BUT WHAT?!

I live in Pittsburgh and I do love living here, but the transit system can't seem to get their shit together. If I lived in Chicago or NYC I could walk a few blocks to take the train or subway to work... In Pittsburgh I would have to drive a few miles to the nearest park 'n ride take one bus, transfer, take another bus, transfer and take yet a third bus... 3 FREAKING BUSES! That is if they didn't cut the routes...

I think if we had a better transit system - then a lot more people would be riding it - saving gas money. But that is just my opinion.

I could keep going... but I think that is enough for one day... ha ha

Monday's, they always come too fast!

This was a pretty low key weekend... I watched a few movies this weekend. I was expected more from Music and Lyrics... perhaps more humor or something... Catch and Release was pretty much what I had expected from the previews of the movie.

Saturday night, went to a bar that is really close to my house... it's a biker bar of sorts I guess... lots of people wearing HD gear... Why was I at a biker bar, you may ask...(especially if you know me... you would know that I am not a biker bar kind of gal) Good question... my step-dad's band was performing...

Sunday I wanted to go see Shrek_the_Third but I opted not too because I was just too tired and wanted to just be a bum and lounge around and not go out... although later my sister and I did go out to the DQ. MMM mmm goodness!

Oh well... that's about all I got to say about that right now...

I can say I am well rested...

The past few days I have done a lot of sleeping... I wasn't feeling that great since the weekend and yesterday was by far the worst day yet... My head felt like it was going to explode... That's never a good feeling.

So anyway, I am pretty much back to normal now... talking, eating, and sitting in the upright position... all great accomplishments when you haven't done much of any of them in the past few days...

Oh well... time to eat my lunch now... so more tomorrow ... because I feel like I have a lot to catch everyone up on -- but I just can't right now.

Mother's Day...

This has been a pretty busy week -- I will get to all that later... first I thought I would post a few pictures from my families Mother's Day outing yesterday. We went out to dinner yesterday to avoid some of the craziness today... and it worked. We went to Bravo and I had the Chicken and shrimp scampi pasta. Yummy!
So here is a picture of (left) Nat and mom, and (right) me and mom prior to going out to dinner...

And a picture of mom with her mom... Gram is wearing her new outfit
that Nat and I went to the store to pick up... OH what a time that was... Just trying to find the sizes and the items from the Sunday paper ad... Not an easy task... Two days later I ended up taking gram to the mall anyway because everything except for the blouse she is wearing in this picture didn't fit her...

Oh well... What else what else, I will update on the past week later... I have some editing to do... so for all those mom's out there... Happy Mother's day to you!

Pictures from the weekend

Lots to catch up on...

It's been a while since I have had the time to write anything here... and now I am wondering where to begin! SIGH!!!

Ok, maybe some old news first... The article I wrote in the_New_Yinzer was read by someone who works for the PG (local newspaper) and he said that really enjoyed the article... cool!

Saturday was Cinco_De_Mayo, one of my favorite Mexican Drinking Holiday's - ha ha! Let's just say that I had seen an eye full that day... Men shouldn't wear speedos regardless of how good they think they look and women, thong bikinis are a HUGE no-no... they are not sexy. And really, I don't want to see your almost bare ass parading around...

Gwen and I saw a women, that was a bit larger wearing a bikini and at first we didn't realize that this woman was wearing a thong... then she rolled over and there it was staring us in the face... and then she must have gotten a chill because she put a t-shirt on and her bum cheeks ate the shirt... Sad to say the batteries in my camera died - I am very disappointed I don't have a picture of that - because it was pretty funny...

We also went to this very yummy little tapas place for dinner... and we had sliced tomato with import cheese. The cheese was good, but have no idea what kind of import cheese it was because the only description we got was IMPORT CHEESE... Gwen had really good lobster raviolis and I got a crab cake that came with a shot glass of lemonade and cole slaw. The waitress spouted off what the lemonade was for so quickly and took off equally as fast that neither of us caught what I was supposed to do with it. Now I am usually pretty picky about my cole slaw - but I figured that the rest rest of the meal has been good so far that I would give it a shot... BAD BAD idea. I picked a carrot out of the cole slaw and put it in my mouth, it instantly set my mouth ablaze. I even let out a little ahh! Then said holy shit my mouth is on fire. Gwen tried some too - and confirmed the hotness of the cole slaw... and damn if we didn't eat all the IMPORT cheese prior to the cole slaw that we couldn't use it to calm down the heat.

I want to go see Spidy III this weekend and the following weekend - Shrek the Third is coming out... I cannot wait. I love the previous two Shrek movies...

The weather in Pittsburgh today was very disturbing as well - this morning as I was eating my Frosted_Flakes and drinking my coffee, the temps were a very chilly 39 degrees... errr!!! I thought we were past that.

Trying to think what else I had to write about... and right now... I can't think of anything...
