An open letter

Dear Friends,

I am getting thoroughly disgusted with the continued increase in gas prices. It is getting out of hand and causing a lot of grief for a lot of people that cannot afford to fill their tanks.

When I started to drive back in the early ‘90’s gas was under a dollar a gallon. Now I realize that with inflation gas would never be that cheap again, but this is ridiculous. It is nearly $4.00 a gallon for the cheap grade (in Pittsburgh) and I am sure it has reached that and then some in other cities.

Meanwhile the oil companies are making millions in profit while we are struggling. It doesn’t seem fair. I heard on the news this morning that even if we were to tap into the surplus that it wouldn’t help because OPEC would just continue to drive up the price.

It is more than apparent that the President is not going to do anything about this as he is the one that said that we shouldn’t tap the surplus. BUT maybe if enough of us raised our pens and started writing to local government, our representatives and senators that something can be done. We could be heard and not just be fluffed off.

There has to be a solution somewhere, but no one wants to say anything because they are enjoying the money that they are making off of us. Well I am tired of it. I am tired of these companies taking money off of the poor. I am tired of putting nearly $80.00 a month in my small car (thank God it gets good gas mileage).

I am asking for your help. Help me make a stand and get our voices heard. Sure you think what could one letter do… but it wouldn’t be one… it would be all of us together.

Thank you
